SEDC is a community based organization which was formed in 1987 when the four Mutual Assistance Associations representing the four Southeast Asian ethnic groups in Rhode Island (Cambodian, Hmong, Laotian, and Vietnamese) joined to form a coalition to serve the needs of Southeast Asians and other ethnic minorities.  Since its creation, SEDC has moved to the forefront in efforts to bridge the gap between mainstream American society and the Southeast Asian communities.

Located in Providence, SEDC operates with roughly a $1 million annual budget and 9 full and 8 part time staff.
